Mr. Kasha is a patent attorney and founding member of Kasha Law LLC. He concentrates on Intellectual Property matters, including the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the electrical and mechanical arts, focusing on a variety of technological and business method fields, including computer software, the Internet, optics, metrology, network security, digital and analog circuit design, semiconductor design and fabrication, computer hardware, communications, investment banking, and bioinformatics.
Prior to founding Kasha Law LLC, Mr. Kasha worked as an Associate and Patent Agent for Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP for three and half years. He wrote and prosecuted numerous patent applications for both large and small clients. He also counseled clients regarding intellectual property matters and wrote opinions regarding patent infringement and validity. In 2005, Mr. Kasha was seconded to UBS in New York City, where he served as Chief Patent Counsel of the Americas for the financial services company.
Mr. Kasha is an experienced engineer and programmer. He worked for more than eight years as a staff engineer with IBM. He developed software tools used in the design and development of microprocessors including the PowerPC. His work in automatic simulation for design verification of microprocessors has been cited by numerous authors. He also developed software used in web banking applications, including user interfaces and secure servers. He was a senior software engineer for Celera Genomics for three years. At Celera Genomics, he primarily developed software used to map and analyze genomic data. He is a co-author of the landmark paper, published in Science, which describes the first mapping of the human genome.
While with Celera Genomics, Mr. Kasha completed his M.B.A in the evening program at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. As part of the M.B.A. program, he studied abroad in Slovenia and provided business consulting services to one of the largest insurance companies in Slovenia.
Before working at Celera Genomics, Mr. Kasha invented an eye test for the detection of glaucoma, using virtual reality glasses. He wrote two patent applications and received two patents (5,565,949 and 5,737,060) for this invention. The invention has been described in a number of publications including the British Journal of Ophthalmology.
In graduate school, Mr. Kasha developed computational models used to simulate electromagnetic effects. His research included modeling the electrical activity of thunderstorms. He co-authored papers in the Journal of Geophysical Research, the Journal of Computational Physics, and the Journal of Atmospheric Sciences
